HPC to Submit Application to become a Federally Qualified Health Center

Health Partnership Clinic (HPC) is pleased to announce a proposed expansion of services with our current locations and new services in Miami County. We have a remarkable vision for HPC to provide seamless quality healthcare to the medically underserved and the vulnerable populations in our community. We are poised to play an essential role in the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Therefore, HPC will be submitting an application for a New Access Point with designation as a Federally Qualified Health Center in November 2010.

HPC’s proposal would expand services to thousands of new patients in vulnerable populations, such as the homeless, the underinsured and additional low income groups. In addition, HPC would be providing healthcare to a new population by opening a new Community Health Center in Miami County. This new center will be devoted to providing primary care, case management and specialty services to patients regardless of their ability to pay.

Due in part to the increasing number of uninsured and underinsured in our county, thousands of residents are going without primary and preventive care. Not only is this detrimental to their health, but also increases their risk of emergency room visits and hospitalization, which drive up the cost of health care for everyone. Furthermore, we must realize that having access to insurance does not guarantee having access to care. The network of doctors that accept Medicaid in Johnson County is already stretched thin and a significant expansion of this workforce will be required to provide for the newly expanded pool of the publicly insured.

HPC has a long history of meeting the needs of underserved populations, as well as improving overall access to health care. Please join our neighbors, community leaders and local businesses who have lent their support to the proposed expansion of Health Partnership Clinic’s services. Submit a letter of support to be included in the application by October 22 to contact@hpcjc.org or send to:

HPC Welcomes Dr. Jawaria Khalid to Staff

Health Partnership Clinic welcome Dr. Jawaria Khalid on August 16. Dr. Khalid has over 7 years of experience in family medicine. She worked at an urgent care facility for 5 years. She also worked at Healthcare Connection, a federally qualified health center in Ohio, for two years before coming to the Clinic.

This is a great service for me as I am not able to afford insurance. Without this clinic I would not have a place for medical care.
